Wild, Wonderful and Famous!

Hold on to your seat!  I know we don't usually have much excitement to talk about, but this week we had 2 major exciting things happen.  The first....the Zoo.  The Zoo is in Luray, Va about 1/2 an hour out of Harrisonburg...where I work at the hospital.

Mason really looks nervous about the sign.

It was pouring down rain when we first arrived so we started in the "snake room"  Oh yea!     After one of the enthusiastic workers told us about how gentle snakes are (even the poisonous ones) and how they are the only animals in nature that won't fight for fun...."even dogs  fight for fun and lots of people like dogs"  ( Brian and I both bit our tongues so that a "we don't like dogs either" comment wouldn't slip out)   We were ready to go out into the zoo....even if it was raining....you guessed it cats and dogs!

Finally the skies cleared and we were able to proceed outside.

IMG_2961EDIT Mason was a little concerned after the Yak fit it's huge head through the fence.  They had a little petting zoo area where you could feed the animals.

Mason really loved when the deer would come eat out of his hand.  He thought it was really funny when the yak came to eat because it would breath hot air on  him.

"More please!" Mason kept yelling when he ran out of food.

Before we left,  Mason had to pose a few times in the animal cut outs.    Somehow he knew just what a Koala's face looks like!

IMG_2986EDIT Apparently this cutout was made for the dad's and only ones that are taller than 6' . This was my best try on my tippy toes.

Before we left the zoo we got Mason a toy Tiger.IMG_2990EDIT

We got to watch them feed the tigers and he seemed to really enjoy it.  So I asked him when we got into the car what does a Tiger say...."um", he said,  "Meow".    So close Mason....so close!

Another interesting fact about Friday is that Yours Truly was the cover model (unpaid, albeit) for the Harrisonburg Daily News Records front page.  The photographer came in and took  pictures to go along with an article our director of pharmacy wrote about prescription drug abuse.

prima

So you can get the scale of just how important we are there at the pharmacy it was like the main event.  Front and center.

Here is our picture where you can see us working....hard...as always.

Just in case you don't subscribe....I have a few copies left over.IMG_2991

Autographed copies are $10 and without autograph it's just $10.  We thought if we went to eat and showed them that I was on the front page we might get a discount.  Didn't work anywhere we tried.  So the $10 price tag is to recover what we spent on all those steaks and liquor that the house didn't cover for us! HA HA!

Well anyway.  Hope you all have a great weekend.
